A New Member Education Program

The annual WSBA Trial Advocacy Program offers a 2-day intensive trial skills training. This seminar is appropriate for attorneys working in either the criminal or civil arena with little or no trial experience. Topics cover the full cycle of a trial, including:

  • Trial Ethics
  • Objections and Motions in Limine
  • Voir Dire
  • Opening Statements
  • Documentation Throughout the Trial
  • Presenting Evidence and Demonstrative Evidence
  • Direct Examination and Exhibits
  • Cross Examination and Redirect
  • Closing Arguments.

Participants have the option of attending the seminar only, or attending the seminar and then participating in a mock trial. The mock trial provides attorneys the unique opportunity to put into practice what they learned at the seminar without the pressure of an actual trial.

Past participants commented that the seminar was “completely engaging and thought-provoking. Entertaining, real-world skill development” and that “Every young lawyer should attend.”
