The 2015 Civil Legal Needs Study revealed that on average, low-income people will experience more than nine civil legal problems annually.  Experience tells us that these problems are often intertwined and if legal practitioners only focus on one problem, other problems may arise or the initial problem will resurface.  As advisor, advocate and evaluator, lawyers can better serve their clients by using a holistic, client-centered approach.  A panel of lawyers practicing in a diverse range of areas will share how to develop holistic service models to improve long-term outcomes for clients.  The presenters will provide practical strategies on how to work with clients to prioritize legal and non-legal needs and develop strategies to meet those needs.  The panelists will also share how to strengthen partnerships and collaborations to address the full scope of your clients’ needs.  Whether you are a civil legal aid provider, in private practice or a public defender, you will walk away with an understanding of the holistic service model and how to incorporate it into your practice.
