As Washington faces an unprecedented homelessness crisis, most tenants are forced to go-at-it alone in eviction court with often devastating results. Many of these outcomes could be different with the benefit of legal counsel.

This 90 minute program invites newcomers to housing law to learn the basics of defending pro bono clients in eviction matters. This session will provide attorneys from any practice area with the practical tools and information to confidently and competently represent tenants facing imminent homelessness. In addition to an overview of the eviction process, common defenses, and controlling law, the speakers will discuss special considerations for representing clients in a fast-paced clinic environment.

In the spirit of pro bono month, we hope that you will join us and be energized to make a difference in your community by taking a pro bono housing case of your own or volunteering with one of the many Housing Justice Projects throughout the State.
