House Bill 1128, enacted by the Washington Legislature on Feb 28, 2018, effective Sept. 1, 2018, provides:
A person may not serve as an arbitrator unless the person has completed a minimum of three credits of Washington state bar association approved continuing legal education credits on the professional and ethical considerations for serving as an arbitrator.*
This on-demand CLE satisfies the new requirement for arbitrators in civil litigation – experienced arbitrators, including retired superior court judges, cover the ethical and professional consideration for serving as an arbitrator.
