This seminar addresses the prevalence and impact of substance use disorders (SUD) and mental health issues among legal professionals, highlighting the ethical and liability implications for lawyers and law firms. The presentation also discusses the DSM-5 criteria for SUD, the high rates of substance abuse and mental health problems in the legal profession, and the associated costs and risks, including attrition, disciplinary actions, and malpractice claims.
