Developed in partnership with the WSBA Rule of Law Ambassador Program

Ambassador Lunch and Learn—Legal Issues of the Day*:  Immigration Enforcement and the Fourth Amendment

"Can they do that?” Legal professionals are getting questions—or perhaps they are even wondering themselves—as federal immigration authorities have become more visible, frequent, and forceful presences in local communities. This one-hour virtual lunch-and-learn session will focus on immigration enforcement and the Fourth Amendment as it relates to search and seizure. Our expert panel will talk about the underlying law, advice for when ICE is at the door, and what to do as a legal observer if you encounter an enforcement action. Please send your questions ahead of time to ambassadors@wsba.org. We want to make sure our short time together is jam-packed with the information you need!

Don’t miss our other lunch-and-learn events regarding federal immigration—as it relates to First and Second Amendment rights (noon, Thursday, April 2) and jurisdictional conflicts/supremacy (noon, Tuesday, April 7).

*The WSBA Rule of Law Ambassador Program is creating an ongoing series of lunch-and-learn events to educate and equip legal ambassadors to answer questions and be resources in their community about hot topics in the law; our goal is for all legal professionals to be ready to counter mis- and disinformation, to build trust and confidence in the legal system, and to stand ready to uphold the rule of law. Do you have a recommended topic for a lunch-and-learn event? Email ambassadors@wsba.org.
