A tremendous amount of harm has been done under the banner of “the best interest of the child.” This presentation will address how the pursuit of best-interest can open the door for harm to be done and how decision-making can be weaponized in the process. It will also address how language can impact parenting dynamics in a negative way and how children are burdened to carry the shadow that brings. Practical tips for approaching these issues and developing parenting plans that support families will be discussed.
