On January 1, 2024, significant revisions to Washington’s law governing real estate brokerage relationships (RCW 18.86) become effective. The revisions include a requirement for real estate firms to enter written brokerage agreements with buyers, changes to “dual agency,” and updated disclosures regarding agency and compensation. The program will describe the key provisions of the new law and will also cover many of the changes to the most commonly used real estate forms in Washington, with an emphasis on commercial real estate transactions.
