This statute adopts Washington’s latest version of the Uniform Law Commission’s Uniform Family Law Arbitration Act to create a revised statutory scheme for the arbitration of family law disputes. If you represent clients in family law arbitrations under RCW 7.04A or are an arbitrator who will continue to offer services after January 1, 2024, you need to know about the changes in the new law. Hear from members of the Family Law Executive Committee who participated in the multi-year legislative process of this bill’s enactment and about changes recommended by the judiciary, the uniform committee and the ADR and Family Law Section of the Bar who provided input to the Legislature on the final version of the Bill. This presentation will bring you up to date by the statute’s effective date (January 1, 2024) and provide you with an overview and the behind the scenes negotiations on the law’s new requirements.
