This session focuses on the unique challenges faced when children with special needs are involved in family court proceedings. Attendees will learn to identify potential signs of diagnosed or undiagnosed special needs in children; understand how a child's special needs can impact family court cases; explore specific considerations for attorneys and arbitrators when handling these cases recognize the importance of individualized approaches, as opposed to standard "one-size-fits-all" methods; and examine potential negative outcomes that may result from failing to address a child's special needs in court proceedings. By the end of this session, participants will be better equipped to recognize and address the unique requirements of family court cases involving children with special needs, ensuring more appropriate and child-centered outcomes.
